Tackling Mindset

How do you help your little ones tackle mindset issues? It’s so hard as a parent who cares to watch them struggle. You can’t change it for them. You can’t push them into a new mindset or convince them to believe in themselves. When you know they’re struggling just because they’re in their own head, how can you fix it?

It’s so hard to watch them struggle at anything but sometimes it’s absolutely needed. We all need to know how to navigate doubt and fears on our own.

I’m not talking about a single hard day. I’m talking about setting goals and not staying focused. Getting defeated when those goals don’t go as planned and staying defeated. Going through the motions but not REALLY doing the work. Ignoring the signs that you need to push harder and just gliding through. How do you navigate when you want and know the goals your kiddo set are attainable if they just believe in themselves?

I have no answers to this today. Just a lot of second guessing and questions on what approach would be best from this point forward. We’ve talked. We’ve reinforced that we believe in the goals they’ve set. We’ve explained that it’ll take hard work. We have had the conversations about how they need to believe and push past their own mental limits. Trust in coaching and stop counting themself out too early.

Parenting is hard. Watching them struggle is hard. It’s all needed but knowing it’ll be okay and it’s just this season of life doesn’t make it any easier.
